A decade-old benchmark determining when a driver is legally drunk should be lowered in an effect to reduce alcohol- related car crashes that claimed 10,000 lives each year. The National Transportation Safety Board recommended that all 50 states lower the threshold from 0.08 blood- alcohol content to 0.05. The idea is part of a safety board initiative outline in a staff report and approve by the panel to eliminate drunk driving which accounts for a third of all road deaths."This is critical because impaired drivers remains one of the biggest killers in the united states", NTSB Chairman Debbie Hersmen said ahead of a vote by the panel on a staff report.

North Korea Removes Missiles
North Korea has withdrawn two mobile missiles from a launch site in the eastern part of the country. According to U.S officials, the latest hint of an easing in tensions on Korean peninsula. The day before President Barack Obama was due to meet with his South Korean counterpart. Periods last month there was daily North Korean threats of war , U.S and North Korean officials said they believed Kim Jong Un's could carry out a test launch of at least one of the missiles at a time. Texas Governor Demands Apology
Texas governor Rick Perry is demanding an apology from a California newspaper that published a cartoon that seemed to link to his push for less regulations to the recent fertilizer plant explosion that killed four-teen people. On April 25th Jack Ohman's cartoon made a strong statement about Governor Rick Perry's disregard for the workers safety, and his attempt to market Texas as a place where industries can thrive with few regards. The cartoon shows Perry standing at a podium in front of signs about lower taxes and lower regulations proclaiming "business is booming in Texas". Perry said he was offended that the cartoon was published on Thursday, the same day that the Governor, President Barack Obama and many others gathered for a memorial for the victims.

Reese Witherspoon Arrested
Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth were arrested early April 19th in Atlanta after Toth was pulled over suspected drunken driving with Witherspoon in the car, Georgia State patrol said. Witherspoon's performance as an upset wife earned her a trip to jail and a disorderly conduct charge. Her lawyer worked out a deal with the prosecutor Monday morning which Witherspoon will have to go through a per trail intervention program to avoid getting a conviction on her record. "Participants are charged with minor criminal offense, and have not already gone through diversion program" the court said. The Judge set May 22 as the date for a hearing to check if she is complying with the program.

BBC accused of endangering students

BBC journalist who got into North Korea by using a group of students
from a top British university as camouflage is facing accusations that he
recklessly endangering their safety and damaged the
school's reputation. BBC Reporter John Sweeney posted as a London student
from the London School of Economics and Political Science, on a visit to the
secretive nation.
Students and Officials say Sweeney did not fully explain the
situation to the students he was traveling with in advance, only being told
that a "journalist was going along". He put the students at risk
and jeopardized future visits by the school's academics to North Korea and
other politically sensitive countries.

Stabbing At College In Texas
There was a stabbing at Lone Star College campus in Texas. "A male on the loose stabbing people" said Sheriff Adrian Garcia. Two of the fourteen people injured in the stabbing accident are in the hospital in critical condition. A nineteen year old student was in a campus health sciences building when the incident happened, she managed to take a picture chaotic scene as it unfolded. The school was on lock down as the authorities ensured no others were injured or attackers were not there. Four students were taken by helicopter to the hospital because they were in critical condition.

Lottery Winner Puts In Pool At School
Melinda Kroening was the big lottery winner on Monday. Her plans with some of the money is to put in a pool at Gibraltar High School for the hot days leading up to summer break. The lottery ticket was from the Pioneer Store in Ellison Bay Wisconsin. Winning a jackpot of $340 million dollars that she got from a close friend of hers for her birthday. Kroening announced her decision for giving some to charity and some on the pool in the back of Gibraltar High School. One of the students of the high school shouted out, "Can I get a hot tub".

Woman faces federal charges, meatball thief
A housekeeper at the U.S Military Academy could face up to two years in jail if convicted of trying to steal a bag of frozen meatballs. Casimir has been charged with stealing from the mess hall at the famed military academy in West Point, New York. She faces two counts of misdemeanor for stolen property and possessing stolen property. For each count it carries a possible penalty of up to one year in jail and $1,000 fine. Casimir claims that she found the bag of meatballs in the trash container and was going downstairs to throw it in another dumpster.

Boy Rescued From South Dakota River
Three people skipped into the foamy water of Big Sioux River. The youngest of the three was a six- year old boy was able to escape and waters alive and his sister who went in after him did not survive and either did the other child. The boy went into the several- feet- high foam that is often generated by the river. A 28-year- old bystander went in after and also got suck after many others tried to save the boy. Authorities task was to find two people in zero visibility, cold, and fast moving waters. Heavy machinery was brought in to break up and remove the ice so boats could get in and search the area.

College Cancels Classes
Oberlin College in Ohio cancels classes to address racial incidents. Classes were suspended on Monday after students reported to seeing a Ku Klux Klan member near the college's Afrikan Heritage House. This event follows a string of recent hate incidents on Oberlin campus that has ignited shock and confusion among the student body. Oberlin College is a small liberal arts college with almost 3,000 students. College administration asked all students and faculty and staff to gather to discuss the series of issues that have accrued that week. "i am worried about the students who have been made to feel incredibly unsafe and feel targeted" Gadsby told reporters. Police are still looking into these series of events.

On Sunday radio connection between the boat and the coast guard went dead. Searchers have been scoring the water in San Francisco for the reported occupants of a 29- foot sailboat with a couple and their four year old and the child's cousin, who the Coast Guard said was younger the eight. The man steering the ship called the Coast Guard hours earlier to say that the boat had begun to take on water and there electronics were failing. The boat was 65 miles off the Pillar point, south of San Francisco. There have been several aircraft and vessels that have now joined the search for the four missing people.

Girlfriend shot 4 times through bathroom door
Model Reeva Steenkamp was shot four times though the door at the home of Olympian Oscar Pistorius. She was still alive when she was carried down the stairs by Pistorius officials say. A blood stained cricket bat was emerged as key evidence in the case. Detectives are working to determine whether the bat was used to attack Steenkamp or she used it in self-defense. Detectives are also investigating if the bat that they found was possibly used to break the door down into the bathroom. Police have charged Pistorius with murder and he will appear in court later this week for a bail hearing.

No Bond For Men Arrested In Chicago Teen's Shooting
The two men suspected of shooting to death a Chicago teenage girl are facing murder charges and will not get bond. 20 year old Kenneth and 18 year old Michael went before a judge on Tuesday in their first court room appearance concerning the death of 15 year old Hadiya. Police said that Michael who allegedly shot the girl was on probation for unlawful use of a firearm. The two men were members of a gang and were seeking revenge against the people who had shot Kenneth in July. Kenneth and Michael thought they had spotted members of a rival gang at the park when Michael sneaked up on Hadiya and her friends and began shooting, Kenneth was the getaway driver.

Gunman rape 6 tourists near Acapulco,Mexico
In Acapulco a pack of hooded and masked gunmen broke into a beach bungalow and raped six tourist. Another woman in a rented house was also attacked just east of the troubled Mexican resort city. The victims which are Spanish nationals ranging from the age of 20-34 are now under the protection of the Mexican authority. "We know it is very unfortunate what has happened , but it happens anywhere in the world" said the mayor. Military checkpoints have since been set up in an effort to apprehend five men that authorities believe are responsible for the attacks. American and British authorities have since issued travel warnings.

Syrians Flee Violence In Dangerous Nighttime Trek To Jordan
Syrian families made a break for northern Jordan as darkness fell. They are fleeing to save their lives. Many groups moving a crossed the border still hearing gun shots in the background. Many fleeing families has been shot at in the past two weeks and many people injured while trying to cross the border. The Border Guard in Jordan helped families into tents and given food to eat. The United Nations have estimated at least 60,000 people have died in twenty-two months of fighting between government forces and rebels seeking to depose president Bashar al-Assad. Suspended For Talk Of Shooting A Hello Kitty Bubble Gun
A 5 year old from Pennsylvania was talking to some of her classmates after school as they were waiting for the bus. The girl talking was talking about her Hello Kitty bubble gun that with a flick of her finger blows bubbles everywhere. "I'll shoot you, you shoot me, we'll play together" said the kindergartner. The next day after that remark was said, it landed the young child in the principal's office. The girl was sent home after being issued with a 10-day suspension for a "terroristic threat" . The girl was really upset even after they lowered the suspension from ten days to two.

New York School Bus Drivers Announce Strike Plan
In New York City officials are preparing to transport 150,000 students after a school bus drivers union announced that they are planning on Wednesday if they cannot reach a suitable agreement. Union officials representing Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181, are seeking job security. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has bid out contracts for nearly 1,100 bus routes currently handled by Local 1181 drivers. New contracts will save taxpayers $95 million over five years. Bloomberg is urging unions to not go on strike because he believes it will jeopardize the education and safety of 150,000 students who take the bus every single day.

Chinese Journalist In Rare Protest Against Censorship
Crowds gathered at the headquarter of a Chinese newspaper on Monday. The people there to support a rare protest against alleged government censorship. the journalist claimed that an editorial calling for political reform was censored and re-written as a tribute to communist party rule. Some posters were calling for press freedom. "We stand up now because we were pushed to the limit," said the journalist who will remain anonymous.The letter also said that the official had factual errors in it. Customer Puts Robber In Choke Hold
Customer at a Springfield Oregon Deli put a robber with a hatchet in a choke hold. The robber with a hatchet in his hand demanded money from an employee. The customer Daniel Gehrig was at a nearby slot machine when he heard Queener demanding money. " The guy trying to rob the place had no idea I was behind him" Gehrig said. Daniel made sure he evaluated the situation before he tackled the man. "I choked him out until he gave up, I did not even think I acted. It was not about my safety, it was about helping the cashier" Queener was charged with first degree robbery.
