New York School Bus Drivers Announce Strike Plan

In New York City officials are preparing to transport 150,000 students after a school bus drivers union announced that they are planning on Wednesday if they cannot  reach a suitable agreement. Union officials representing Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1181, are seeking job security. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has bid out contracts for nearly 1,100 bus routes currently handled by  Local 1181 drivers. New contracts will save taxpayers $95 million over five years. Bloomberg is urging unions to not go on strike because he believes it will  jeopardize the education and safety of  150,000 students who take the bus every single day.
